Stop, no really, just stop.

I vowed and promised that I would not, would not, get caught up in any more communities. I can't keep up with them now as it is.

So why the hell did I just post a submission for fandomweekly?

I don't understand? Elucidate please.

Just my stupid inability to stop signing up for more and more writing challenges. As if I don't have enough to do! Gah!

I may have 'accidentally' subscribed to [livejournal.com profile] slashthedrabble as well....

Because they're all just so shiny and tempting?

I haven't written mine yet, but I have the germ (or rather first line) of a FAKE idea, so I'll try to do something with that today...

Damn those shiny prompts! I was meant to have been finishing my gen prompt bingo fic over the holidays. It's still not done and I've only edited about the first three chapters.

Feel like I'm having a Charlie Brown moment, carting around War and Peace, but never actually finishing it!

Long fics get to be a major headache, which is why I try to avoid writing them.

Both fandomweekly and slashthedrabble are for short pieces though, not such a huge commitment and you can always skip weeks you don't like. i'm gradually learning to do that... I've skipped one from each =)

Just a lack of discipline on my part, really. I was doing well when I had a schedule for it of doing one chapter a week so I ensured that I didn't write 30% and then abandon it, wasting all that work. Now that it's 90-95% my brain just goes, I'll work on it after I've just done this, or that.
Most times I can wrap things up quickly because it's just a SPAG check, but this one is a proper rework of the first draft. Because of my frantic schedule, I basically just got the key points down on the page, lots of info dumping that needs to be worked into more active language and speech. The second draft just requires a lot more love, really, which means proper time sat down where it's the only thing I'm concentrating on.

Sounds like a lot of work, but I know you can do it. Just set aside one day's writing time a week when you concentrate solely on that fic and you'll get there.
