Summary: Jack considers making a first move

'Mmm, that's smells really good,' Jack purred, leaning over Ianto's shoulder where he was diligently attending to the monstrosity that was their coffee machine.

Jack couldn't ever figure out how he'd brought it to bear. None of them could get the darn thing to do more than squeal and produce a whole heap of steam. Under Ianto's dexterous fingers, it was like a finely tuned work of art, producing the most heavenly substance Jack had ever tasted. He drew in a deep breath, letting the bitterness fill his nostrils, and catching the sweetness of Ianto's cologne on the end of it. He breathed it in again, relishing the scent.

'I'll bring it to you in a minute,' Ianto said.

It was a polite way of saying that he wanted Jack to go away. Jack knew that he was well and truly invading Ianto's personal space, and that Ianto was decidedly uncomfortable with it, but he didn't care. There was something terribly alluring about the quiet young man who'd slipped seamlessly into Torchwood Three, barely noticeable except for when he was brewing everyone's favourite beverage. What Jack really wanted was wrap his arms around that slim waist, and capture those lips with his own, just to see if Ianto might return his kiss.

It was a fanciful thought. Ever since that first night, he'd done nothing to indicate towards Jack that he had any sort of attraction towards him. It was baffling. Jack knew he was good looking, and even more so by the standards of this little city. You couldn't even begin to compare teeth. He also knew he was charming and utterly irresistible when he tried, yet all of his efforts had failed to penetrate that neat, suited exterior. He hadn't gotten into a relationship with anyone he'd worked with in a long time for a multitude of reasons, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from Ianto whenever he was in the room.

Ianto turned to face him, hoping Jack would take a step back and allow him to get by. Instead,  Jack held his ground, letting the gap between them stay narrow.

'Did you, uh, need something, sir?' Was there a hint of nervousness in that question?

Jack stopped to admire his features. He had such nice eyelashes, light and feathery. They'd feel so nice under his lips when he kissed them. And his hair had a slight curl to it, near the roots. The front was gelled up a bit, but the rest looked so soft that he wanted the reach out and run his hand through it. It was nothing compared to those blue eyes, though. Ther was so much depth he thought he might lose himself in them.

Do it, the voice in his head whispered. It was just a few inches, and Ianto hadn't made any move to widen the gap between them.

Jack reached behind Ianto. 'Just came for coffee,' he said, taking it and disappearing to his office.

Maybe next time.

Jack is a tease! Then again, despite the nerves, Ianto isn't making much effort to escape. Who knows what might happen next time?
