'I'm gonna report you to the highest levels of government!' the man ranted.

'Oh, yeah?' Jack replied. 'Go ahead and bite me,' he said, before thrusting open the door, sliding into the driver's seat, slamming it shut.

'Making friends again?' Suzie mused, unable to wipe the look of amusement off her face.

'We save the lives of these ungrateful people every day, and what do we get in return? Nothing.'

'Can I make a suggestion?' she asked.

'Please.'

'Well, if we didn't have the word Torchwood emblazoned on the roof of the car, people wouldn't know who to report where.'

Quite so.

And maybe if Jack didn't lie to them, keep them in the dark, and retcon them when they see something interesting, they might actually BE grateful. As it is, it's all Jack's fault that they're not grateful and don't know that they should be.

Why yes, this is something that has seriously annoyed me about Torchwood and Jack for years - years, I tell you.

And don't get me started on how Jack mocks and baits the police, steals their evidence and corrupts their data/files, and then expects them to be falling-over-themselves-helpful at the drop of a hat.
