Summary: Ianto wants to save some time. Jack however, is intent on wasting it.

'We need bikes,' Ianto declared, slapping the requisition form on Jack's desk along with his coffee and a plate of biscuits.

'Bikes?' Jack asked. 'You're not still on about this whole getting fit thing, are you?'

Ianto had raised the issue a week ago after complaining that the notch in his belt where his buckle usually resided now didn't reach far enough. As far as Jack could tell, Ianto hadn't gained any weight, and he should know, having spent a considerable amount of time admiring those particular features, and having Ianto's entire weight on top of him at regular intervals.

'I don't think I should rely on you to assess my overall fitness levels,' he'd quipped back when Jack laughed at him and said as much. In Jack's humble opinion they did more than enough exercise of a sufficiently physical nature that Ianto was never going to gain so much as a single pound so long as he maintained their punishing bedroom regime.

Ianto brought Jack's focus back to the present. 'Totally unrelated, but no, that hadn't left my agenda of things to be explored. The bikes are for downstairs.'

'Right, 'Jack said sipping his coffee. 'Still confused. More information please.'

Ianto sighed. 'Bikes for getting around the hub. We've got stuff stored in so many areas these days, it requires a cut lunch to go and fetch anything. I thought bikes might help speed up the process, and if they help provide a little extra exercise, so much the better. They use them at CERN, so why not Torchwood?'

'Agreed,' Jack said. 'The less time you spend downstairs, the more time that leaves us for upstairs activities.' Jack signed the requisition form with a flourish.

Ianto rolled his eyes. 'Should have known that was all it would take to convince you.'

The bicycles arrived just a few days later, Ianto having perused the many varieties at the shop, enquiring into the best kind for what they needed, then ordering four, figuring that was more than enough.

Jack came down to visit, just as he was pulling them out of their boxes, checking that the tyres were properly inflated and that the chains hadn't come loose during transport.

'Nice wheels,' Jack said admiring the shiny handlebars and tinking the bell.

'State of the art,' Ianto replied, standing up the second one and setting it on its stand. 'I've got proper double baskets that can clip into the back as well, so we can move a decent amount of stuff around at any one time, and they're still narrower than our doorways, so no getting stuck.'

'Last one to Sector Forty buys dinner,' Jack said, quickly vaulting onto the bike and beginning to pedal madly down the hallway.

'Hey!' Ianto yelled, 'that's not,' but Jack was already out of earshot.

'So not cool,' Ianto said, straddling his own bike and setting off after Jack. This wasn't what he'd intended, but he supposed if it got Jack moving, that was a bonus.
