Summary: Ianto has Jack wrapped around his little finger.
Ianto grinned in a self-satisfied way as he watched the CCTV footage of Jack's office. There was his lover, diligently reviewing and finalising the tall stack of reports that had accrued on his desk over the past week. It wasn't that they'd been particularly busy, only that Jack avoided paperwork in the same way most people avoided cleaning out their gutters; hoping that with a good gust of wind, or maybe some torrential rain, that that matter would resolve itself. Ianto however knew better. Jack would try anything to avoid paperwork, and Ianto had grown wise to his many diversionary tactics.
That was why he was now admiring his own handiwork with a sense of pride.
The program had been developed with assistance from Tosh. Once he'd told her what he was thinking, she'd readily agreed. In short, it was a way to curb Jack's many distractions. The program had many neat little features, and could be turned on remotely at any time. Its main function was to take over Jack's computer and phone, applying clever little filters that took away anything that might divert his attention.
Jack hated paperwork. If he'd known being leader of a top secret organisation would involve so much red tape, he might have thought twice about taking it on. He shoved the report aside, waking up his computer screen, jiggling the mouse and consulting the rift readings. Huh, nothing. Less than nothing in fact.He couldn't remember the last time there'd been so little activity. Where was a rogue weevil when you needed one?
He flipped across to his emails. Nothing there either, except for the mundane list of minor tasks that were even less palatable than what he was doing now. He pulled out his phone. No missed calls and no messages. No one needing him. Well, that sucked. Wonder what the rest of the team are doing? He opened up his instant messenger to see if there was any chatter. Even if there wasn't, maybe he'd send Ianto a message.
"Internal serve unable to connect," the message read. Damn. This thing was so tetchy.
He pulled up the CCTV footage. Ianto wanted to laugh out loud when Jack saw the image of Ianto's own office in the archives, empty. All a ruse of course. Ianto was sitting right there, watching himself being watched, but Tosh's programming had his office on a feedback loop, showing it empty, leading Jack to the false assumption that he was busy elsewhere and not available for entertaining.
Jack groaned audibly, slumping back in his chair, staring unhappily at the piles of papers spread all over his desk. No rift activity, no end of the world crises, team busy at work, and here he was with nothing but a pile of reports for company. Oh well, they do need to be done,he thought. He picked up the next manila folder and began reading.
I owe you one, Tosh, Ianto thought, settling back down to his own work.
