Summary: Jack and Ianto share their special moment on the dance floor

Jack stood up and reached out a hand, feeling Ianto take it, pulling him towards the center of the room. His arm slipped around Jack's body and Jack let out a contented sigh. His other hand wrapped around Ianto's, feeling the cool metal band that now adorned his finger. There was no removing the smile from his face as he held Ianto in his arms. After so long, Ianto was finally, undeniably his, and no one else's.

People made such a fuss about weddings, and now he could understand why. He'd been a nervous wreck himself since the moment he’d woken up, afraid Ianto might change his mind, leaving Jack at the altar, but now there was absolutely nothing to be nervous or scared about. They were just them again, no longer the centre of attention. Just two people hopelessly in love with one another.

Well, not entirely no longer the centre of attention. This was still their dance. He wanted others to join them, but he also knew they wouldn't. They wanted the happy couple to have this one magic moment for themselves. Not that it mattered. Jack didn't think he'd notice anyone else even if the room was crowded with a thousand people. There was only one person that mattered right now.

He slipped his arm tighter around Ianto, feeling them press together like two pieces of the same puzzle. Ying and yang. He could feel Ianto’s cheek brush against his and he leaned into the touch. Ianto was so soft and warm. He could smell the hint of cologne that clung to his skin. It was intoxicating. He could appreciate how his own pheromones messed with Ianto’s head, as he was constantly reminded. It wasn't the excitement of the day, or the three glasses of champagne he'd had; it was the scent of his lover made his head spin and his heart pound. It made him want to throw caution to the wind and just do whatever took him at the time, unable to escape their alluring power, feeling them tug at his willpower, even now. He slipped his hand higher up Ianto's back, feeling the soft satin of his waistcoat, which fitted so perfectly to his slim figure. Without seeing it, he could picture the deep red wine colour, almost feeling its richness beneath his fingers.

'You are so beautiful,' Jack whispered in his ear.

'You’re not bad yourself,' came the reply. Jack chuckled. He knew that was the closest he’d get to Ianto agreeing with his sentiment. He wasn’t one for flowery words. It was one of the reasons Ianto’s vows had almost brought him to tears. He knew Ianto loved him, but hearing him say it out loud made his heart want to burst from his chest.

He leant his head against Ianto's and closed his eyes, letting the music and their own motion take over, hearing the words drift around him.

Something in your eyes
Makes me want to lose myself
Makes me want to lose myself, in your arms

How had he never noticed just how perfectly Ianto fit into his arms, almost as if he was an extension of Jack, another limb attached to his body. There was something else though. It was the way it felt as if he’d always just been there, and that Jack was only realising it for the first  time, they way they swayed completely in synch. Usually Ianto hated it when Jack lead him in dance, and although he’d learnt to accept being lead, he’d never really made it work. Jack still remembered that very first time they'd danced together, at Gwen's wedding. He'd teased Ianto for so long he thought he'd scared him off completely. It still made him smile to think that jealousy had coaxed the nervousness out of him, claiming Jack for his own. Today though, there was no need for Ianto to stake his claim; Jack was his for as long as he'd have him. There was no awkward feet, figuring out where to put hands, or bumping of noses. Today there was absolutely nothing but perfection in the way they moved to the music like two people who’d been dancing together their whole lives, knowing each movement as if it were their own.

There's something in your voice
Makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts the rest of my life

His heart was beating not fast but strong, as if it could sense the heart pressed against its own just a few inches away. It wanted to beat in synch with its other half, finding that perfect rhythm. As he pressed closer still, Jack could have sworn they really were beating in time.  Perhaps it was fanciful thinking but he couldn’t help it. Gone were all his earlier fears and anxiety. The hard part of the day was over and now it was just the two of them.

'I still can't believe it,' he heard Ianto almost whisper against his ear, unable to shake that low masculine timbre even when he whispered. Jack could listen to that sound all day long, letting it turn his whole body to jelly, melting into the words. Ianto wasn't much of a talker, but Jack took every word as if it was a previous gem and hoarded it in his memory, in case he should ever have to go without hearing them for even a day.

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
If you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

He married twice before, but both times he done so on a whim. Yes, he been in love, utterly captivated by the women he'd fallen for, but marrying them had been the wrong thing to do. Not because he didn't love them. He'd loved them with all his heart, but on both occasions he'd done it without though, without considering how they'd have to come to live with who he really was. He'd ended up breaking their hearts instead of treasuring them.

This time it was different. This was no whim. Ianto had become his best friend, his confidante, his rock. He knew all of Jack's flaws and imperfections, all the fears and insecurities he held behind that dazzling smile. He'd come to learn who the man behind the coat really was, and it was that man he'd fallen in love with, not the hero Jack often pretended he was. He'd accepted the real Jack; the one he'd been afraid to let anyone know. Ianto was there for him like no one else ever had been.

It feels like home to me
It feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from

He couldn't wait to share this new phase of their lives together. Sure, much of it wouldn't change. They'd still live and work, just as they'd always done, laugh and joke, make love, and fight over petty things, but for Jack, there'd always be that knowledge that no matter what happened from here on in, they'd do it together, side by side. There was nothing they couldn't face so long as they faced it together. It was that final declaration that they wanted one another to the exclusion of all others. It sealed their fate, exchanging rings and words as symbols of everything they would promise for now and always.

It feels like home to me
It feels like home to me
Feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

How long had he thought he'd have to suffer all of eternity alone and unloved? Just when he'd truly thought that there was no way he could ever love someone that truly and deeply, along had come this wonderful, impossible man. He'd been so completely opposite to Jack's brash, outgoing nature, it seemed a wonder they could ever find any common ground.

A window breaks down a long dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see through the dark there is light

They may have seemed so different, yet at the same time, he'd come to discover that they had both suffered terrible losses, that they both held their pain in private, where no one could see could see it. They were both broken and in need of someone who could take that pain and turn it into something else. They both needed to learn how to stop punishing themselves for the mistakes they'd made, and to accept that love and friendship were things they deserved. Ianto had given him that gift and he'd returned it in kind, never knowing just how important it would become. He needed Ianto's love like he needed air in his lungs, and he needed to pour that love back out as it filled him full to bursting with happiness.

If you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch.

'I love you so much,' Jack said, his breath ghosting Ianto's ear. 'I wish I'd told you that so much sooner.'

'You didn't have to,' Ianto replied.

Somehow he'd always known. It didn't matter any more. Ianto was his for as long as they had. It might not be forever, but every moment they did have would be cherished. They'd wasted too much time already, fighting the inevitable. Now was the time to stop fighting it and just let love do what it wanted. He pulled back slightly, watching how beautiful Ianto's face was, love practically shining out of his eyes. Everyone might have been watching them but he didn't care. He loved Ianto and he was going to kiss him for as long as he liked. This was their day and their perfect moment.

It feels like home to me
It feels like home to me
Feels like I'm all the way back where I belong.

This was lovely.

I'm reading them out of order but I can see this would have been the perfect one to finish off the set - as much 'happy ever after' as our guys can get.

This is beautiful. They deserve their perfect moment, dancing to a romantic song, and even though they don't know it yet, soon they rally will have forever together.

It really is their perfect moment - one they've had to struggle through years of hardship to finally reach. They deserve to enjoy every second of it.
