Summary: Jack learns something he never knew.

'It always rains when we come to London,' Jack complained, jostling for space underneath the umbrella as Ianto held it aloft.

'It always rains in London,' Ianto replied. 'Whether we're here or not.'

Jack made a grumbling sound. 'Still, couldn't it have at least rained while we were inside listening to those stuffed shirt generals from UNIT going on about... What was it they were going on about?'

Ianto rolled his eyes. ' Maybe if you had actually been listening, you'd know.'

'Neither here nor there now,' Jack said, waving it off. 'Besides I had you there to listen on my behalf.'

'As usual.'

'What I was really looking forward to was showing you around the city once we were done. You know, all those hidden little gems of the city.'

Ianto wanted to laugh. He'd lived here a lot longer than Jack. He should be the one showing Jack around.

'This weather stinks. Can we go find somewhere that does those nice cream teas?' Jack asked

'Sure, I know a place. We'll need to catch a taxi, though.'

As they stood by the kerb, huddled under the umbrella, Jack watched as a little smile crept across Ianto's face.

'What are you smiling at?'

'Just thinking about the first time we met.'

'Standing in the rain makes you think of weevils?'

Ianto looked at him. 'You don't remember, do you?'

'Like it was yesterday,' Jack replied.

'That's not the first time we met.'

Jack frowned. 'What are you talking about?'

'We met here. You were meeting with Yvonne Hartman. You were standing there, waiting for a taxi in the rain and I came over and shared my umbrella with you.'

'Then what happened?'

'Taxi came along and you left.'

'Liar!' Jack cried. 'I would never forget that face!'

'Clearly you did. Understandable, really. Though you did try to flirt with me, so points for trying.'

Jack grinned. Of course he did. Then he grinned again, punching Ianto on the arm. 'Ianto Jones, you old softie!'

'What?'

'Two star-crossed lover's meet as strangers, sharing an umbrella on a rainy London day, only to meet again years later, never knowing that they'd met before, and then fall madly in love with one another? It sounds like something straight out of an old movie.'

'For the record, I remember it perfectly.'

Jack shook his head. 'I still can't imagine any scenario where we've met before and I didn't remember it. You're way too gorgeous. I would never have just left you behind.'

'I'm not so remarkable,' Ianto said, feeling the blush creeping into his cheeks.

Jack squeezed him closer. 'Never picked you for an old fashioned romance film fan.'

'Maybe that's not such a bad thing,' Ianto mused.

'Why's that?'

'Well, you know what always happens at the end of movies like that, just before the credits roll?'

Jack thought about it for a moment and grinned. 'Oh, yeah.' He threw the umbrella aside and grabbed Ianto tight, kissing him in pouring rain.

So sweet and romantic, especially the kiss at the end, but I hope they retrieved the brolly after!

It wasn't far away. It was rainy but not windy, not that I think either of them noticed!
