Notes: Illness has put a dampener on Jack's festive spirit. A double drabble.

He insisted that they go on without him, though it broke his heart to say so. There was no point in them missing out on all the fun and festivities. He who'd been looking forward to raising a glass of champagne and partying with the best of them, was now relegated to bed.

The fever had broken, but he was still left feeling weak, every bone and muscle aching, exhausted but unable to sleep. Timing had never been on his side. Luck even less so.

'Of all the weeks for you to get the flu,' Ianto said, perched on the edge of the bed. 'They say these will be the best New Year's fireworks in a decade.' He knew how much Jack loved fireworks.

'Take lots of pictures.' It wouldn't be the same, but what else could he do?

'A shame we'll miss them,' he said, curling up on the bed next to Jack. 'I suppose there's always next year.'

'Don't stay home on my account.' If anyone deserved some fun, it was Ianto, though he'd still be the least drunk of the four of them, making sure they all got home safely.

'And who would I kiss at midnight?'
