Summary: Jack decides to give Ianto the full service.
'You really don't have to come with me,' Ianto said, watching as Jack trailed closely behind him as he dragged the small case to the back of the car, easily hefting it up and into the boot.
'I insist,' Jack replied. 'Besides, won't it be a whole lot easier for me to take the car rather than leave it in long term parking?'
There was that he supposed. Of course he knew that the flip side of it was that he'd then have to wait for Jack to pick him up again when he got back. It was a clever ploy, albeit transparent.
'Fine,' Ianto sighed, reluctantly handing over the keys to his precious baby. Jack driving always made him nervous. It was one thing to go around thrashing the hell out of the SUV, but it was another story completely when it was his poor little car. It wasn't built like a tank and didn't have the suspension to cope with Jack's more creative driving skills.
'Get us there in one piece, yeah?' he said, sliding into the passenger seat and clipping the belt tight.
'Always,' Jack promised.
'You're going the wrong way,' Ianto said, as Jack took the right lane instead of the left as they arrived at the airport.
'No, I'm not,' Jack argued.
'Departures is on the left and up the ramp.'
'Well, sure. I mean, if you're just dropping someone off.'
'Jack...'
'What? Thought I'd see you off all the way to the gate.'
He wanted to sigh but it was sweet. Jack got very clingy when Ianto had to head off on these conferences. Two weeks was a decent stretch to be apart, especially if you were Jack.
He parked the car and fished Ianto's case from the back, carrying it for him towards the check-in counter. There was no need really, since he'd already organised the tickets before he left, only needing to drop off his bag. Instead they headed through security and idled in a café whilst waiting for the boarding call, treating themselves to croissants and tea to pass the time.
Finally, the call came through for the flight to Brussels and they wandered down to the gate.
'All set?' Jack asked.
'Yup.'
'Got your ticket?'
'Yes, Jack. Better question, do you have yours to get back out of the car park?' Jack rifled through his enormous coat pocket, tugging it out and grinning.
'Looks like we'll both be okay, then,' Ianto quipped.
'Looks that way,' Jack agreed.
'Remember, no one touches the coffee machine, and no letting the world end. Try and keep the place clean, too, if you can.'
'Roger that,' Jack said, giving him a mock salute.
Before he could say anything else, Jack grabbed him and pulled him into a passionate kiss, ignoring the hundred or so other people standing around the departure gate.
Ianto reluctantly pulled away, suddenly not wanting to go anywhere. 'I'll call you when we land.'
Jack touched his check. 'I'll be waiting.'
