Summary: Jack's latest hobby has gone pear-shaped on him.

Ianto resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he heard the tiny mechanical whirring sound just a few feet away. But for the fact that he'd paused to grab his handkerchief out of his pocket, he might not have heard it at all.

He blew gently and pocketed it, before resuming his task, bending down to pick the box back up. There was another tiny whirr, the device moving up and down in time with his own movements, following him precisely. He sighed. Didn't Jack have any real work to do, he thought as he walked along the dark row of archive shelves, looking for the spot where this particular box needed to be filed away.

With each measured step, he felt the eyes following him. They moved from one security camera to the next, each turning to get the best angle as he moved around.

Finding the shelf, he lifted the box up and slid it into place, pulling the clipboard off the top and marking it down as returned. He flipped the page over and checked the reference of the next box he had to find. All the while, the eyes kept watching him, little red lights blinking innocuously as they monitored his every move.

Jack was the only person he knew who could turn spying into a hobby, or perhaps he considered it a sport. One where spectating was the entirety of it, rather than the realm of the non participants. It didn't bother him most of the time, this being watched. He didn't have a guilty conscience that he was doing anything wrong. Perhaps he was just hoping that Ianto might play up to being watched. How many times had he considered it? The problem was Jack would only enjoy it. Worse was the thought that someone else might see it. Instead he had a better idea.

Jack was enjoying his afternoon, Ianto watching. This was way more fun than doing paperwork. As he jumped from one camera to the next, he lost sight of Ianto. He flipped back and then across to the next one, but he was nowhere to be seen. He scrolled through a dozen cameras, trying to pinpoint where he'd taken a wrong turn, but every camera in the archives came up empty. He scrolled through them all again, then back to Ianto's office. He wouldn't be far away surely, and he always returned to his desk eventually.

After a full fifteen minutes of searching, Jack grew worried. What if something down there had zapped him, or shrunk him, or obliterated him into little bits? He madly flicked through all the images again.

'See anything you like?' the voice behind him asked.

Jack spun, heart leaping into his mouth. 'Ianto, you scared the hell out of me! I thought I'd lost you.'

'No, I just used the blindspots to get away from your wandering eyes.'

'Oh,' Jack said. 'Maybe you'll have to show me these blindspots. They could come in handy.'
