Notes: Jack likes love, but romance is a lot harder. A double drabble.

Jack had been in love more times than he could possibly count. He couldn't help himself. Life was going to be a very long time, and being lonely felt like the worst possible thing in the world. Jack craved the attention of others.

Falling in love was like riding a bike. It was thrilling and a rush, life whipping by at a million miles an hour. Sometimes you lost your balance on that ride, taking your eye off the ball even for just a split second, and stacked. It didn't matter though, because like a bike, you just got straight back on and kept riding.

Physical attraction was his downfall, and it was all to easy to fall into bed with whoever caught his eye. Very rarely had he ever been turned down. The problem was that it never lasted. For all the people he'd slept with over the years, very few he'd formed proper relationships with. Sex was easy, romance was the hard part. That required him to give up something of himself, and he'd never been good at that. His heart was just as mortal as everyone else's, prone to break if he opened it up to love.

Poor Jack. He needs the connection with other people, needs to love and be loved, but the losing never gets any easier to bear.
