Summary: Ianto is off to kill two birds with one stone.

Ianto sat in the chairs of A and E, waiting for his turn to be seen. He couldn't wait to get this plaster cast finally removed from his arm.

Ever since that day in the hospital, he'd  been thinking more and more  about the young doctor that had crossed their path. It was true what he'd said that day to Jack, that they needed another doctor for the team. In truth, they needed a lot of things. They were so short-staffed it wasn't funny, and when even one of them was partly out of action, it made a huge impact on their ability to get anything done. He'd felt that frustration first hand for the last six weeks. Fortunately it had been the left arm he'd broken, but it was still a hindrance he didn't need. He'd be glad to walk out to of those hospital doors with full freedom of movement again. That and the fact that the pink unicorn stickers Mica had added to his plaster cast were very unbecoming in his opinion. Plus he hadn't been able to wear a suit jacket since, feeling only half dressed on account of his sling.

The team needed to be expanded, that was a fact. Getting Jack to accept it was the harder task. Deep down Jack knew they needed more people, but after having lost so many friends he cared deeply for, it was going to be difficult to push him to recruit again. They were more than just coworkers at Torchwood, they were a family. The simple fact of the matter was that if they didn't get some additional hands on deck, they were going to tire out, and someone would make a mistake. In a place like this, mistakes could cost you your life.

He'd felt immediately comfortable in the presence of the young Anglo-African doctor. Mind you, he'd been exhausted at the time, and in a lot of pain as well. Still, he didn't think his cognitive abilities were so badly impaired that he couldn't tell a good fit when he saw one.

He'd purposefully delayed returning to the hospital until he knew the young man would be on shift. Whilst it was unlikely he'd be assigned to the largely procedural task of removing a cast, he could at least hope to collar him on his way to a lunch break and pop the question. An unique opportunity for a young medical professional. Hands on experience essential, opportunities for research, lots of variety, flexible hours and decent pay. All within the local Cardiff area. That was how he intended on marketing it, anyway.

Recruitment seemed more like a task suited to Gwen, but in this instance he supposed he was already in the neighborhood, and they'd met before, so it wouldn't feel quite so out of the blue. At least he hoped not. If nothing else, at least today should feel normal before the craziness of Torchwood began in earnest. He just had to say yes.

Well.... it'll go down, alright. Torchwood style. ;)

I figured if I wrote the prologue to the fic I want to write about Jez's recruitment, I might actually get going on it. Damn this ever growing list of to-dos!

I know what you mean - the plot bunnies keep popping up so fast it's impossible to keep up.
