Challenge 494 - Zap-dragons

Notes: Jack gets a shock from one of the hothouse's residents. A double drabble.

Jack found Owen hiding up in the hothouse. 'Having fun?' he said, watching Owen diligently watering a flushing orange bush that smelled vaguely like strawberries when you crushed the leaves. What it did was anyone's guess beyond that, though even Jack wasn't game to steep leaves on the assumption they made good tea.

'I'm busy,' he replied, focusing on the task at hand. 'What d'you want? And don't mess with my plants.'

'Nothing really,' Jack said, wandering around, taking in the assortment of flora. One caught his eye, rubbing a furry leaf.  It looked like it would feel nice and he couldn't resist. 'Ow!' he cried, feeling more than a slight electrical shock zap his hand. 'It zapped me!'

'Yeah, it does that,' Owen replied. 'Told you not to touch anything in here.'

'But it's a plant. Plants don't zap people.'

'They have a low level electrical field, just like we do. Only this one packs quite a bit more punch than your average house plant.'

'You wanna put warnings on things like that,' Jack said sucking his smarting fingers.

'What's the point?' Owen replied. 'You didn't listen when I told you. What makes you think a sign would work?'

Love the title - and I suppose, statistically, Owen would have to say something reasonable and logical one day :)
