Notes: Jack has a special place for his most valued possessions. A double drabble.

Gwen sat opposite Jack's desk awaiting her debrief. She expected she'd be asked to leave. Shortest employment ever, she thought glumly. Would they let her have her old job back, patrolling the streets with Andy?

'Quite a first day, huh?' he asked, though he was smiling.

The end had been good, she thought, reuniting a daughter with her father. The rest she would probably rather forget.

'Go home,' he said. 'Tomorrow's another day.' Judging by his tone, she was coming back tomorrow after all.  

'What about you?' she blurted out. 'When do you get to go home?'

'I am home.'

Gwen frowned. 'What, here? But where do you keep all your stuff?' She knew the place was big, so there must be some whole other section.

He smiled again, tapping his bottom drawer with the toe on his boot.

'That's it?'

'I don't keep a lot of personal possessions. Don't need them.'

'Don't be silly. Everyone has stuff.' Her apartment was overflowing with knick knacks and photos and junk she and Rhys had collected over the years.

'Forever is too long a time to accumulate trinkets. The only important things worth keeping are up here,' he replied, touching his temple.

Memories are good, as long as you can keep them, but sometimes it helps to have some physical object as a reminder.
