Summary: Jon would do anything for his little sister. A double drabble.
Jon didn't expect to bump into anyone on his way back down from the tower, least of all his father.
'Jon. What's brings you here?'
He cast his eyes down, unable to hide the wooden tourney sword, the same one he'd confiscated from Arya just minutes ago. 'I was just checking that Arya was coming to dinner,' he lied.
Ned smirked. 'And you felt the need to go in there armed?' he asked, eyeing off the sword.
'Have you met my sister?' Jon quipped in reply, hoping it sounded sincere.
Ned laughed. 'She's more her mother than she knows. I hope that isn't the same sword Ser Rodrik has been looking for. If Arya took it,' he said, letting the statement hang in the air.
'She didn't,' Jon quickly replied. 'I... I thought I might be able to quell her interest in swords by letting her play with it a bit.'
Ned gave his son a disappointed look. He knew Jon was lying to protect Arya. It was commendable. 'Swords are not for young girls,' he replied. 'You're old enough to know better.'
'Yes, Father,' he said, looking suitably contrite.
'Put that back and we'll speak no more of it.'
