'Where did it go?' Jack asked, out of breath as his boots sloshed through the fetid waters of the sewers, finding Owen only by the tiny light of his torch beam.

'I thought you were on its tail,' Owen said, having lost sight of the weevil as both it and Jack had disappeared down a different tunnel.

Jack bent over, breathing hard before standing back up again. 'How hard could it be to find one weevil?'

Owen stilled, listening for any splashing sounds echoing, giving away its location, but there was nothing. 'Maybe this one's smarter than the average weevil.'
