Summary: Ianto has a somewhat unwelcome visitor at the door.

Ianto paused with his hand wrapped around the door handle, before pulling it open to confront the man standing on their doorstep.

He didn't hesitate in holding up his credentials and giving Ianto a stern look, which was effortless given the way his craggy face and grey hair held most of the gravitas. 'I need to speak with Jack Harkness.'

'He's in the shower,' Ianto replied. 'Come back another time.' With any luck, he could be gone before Jack knew he'd even shown up.

'But I'm the police,' the man repeated, wagging the identification card in Ianto's face again.

Ianto gave him the eye. 'Psychic paper? Really? You think I'm going to fall for that?'

A confused expression crossed the man's face. 'Do I know you?'

Ianto rolled his eyes. 'Ianto Jones. We've met before. I work for Torchwood.'

'Oh. Which one?'

Ianto narrowed his eyes at the Doctor. 'There is only one.' Since you did such a spectacular job of not saving the other one, he felt like adding. 'I hope you didn't crush the jonquils,' he said, frowning at the TARDIS in their front yard. 'They've only just begun to bloom.' What little spare time he had these days he spent gardening. He wouldn't be pleased if all that hard work was undone by a wayward Time Lord who couldn't park in the street like everyone else.

'Right,' the Doctor replied uneasily. I confess I've never been a big fan of Torchwood.

'Not exactly surprising, given the circumstances,' Ianto replied, keeping his responses cautious. It was difficult to trust a man who couldn't even be bothered to remember you'd helped him drag twenty-seven planets back to their respective orbits, and nearly been obliterated by a Dalek in the process. He hadn't much been bothered leaving Jack behind, either. Lucky for him Jack couldn't die. Not permanently, anyway. Ianto would prefer it stay that way, not getting dragged into another of the Doctor's so-called adventures.

'This is where Jack's living these days, isn't it?'

Ianto was above politely telling him to leave. 'It's my house, but yes. We live together.' Didn't the fact that he was stood there on a Sunday morning still dressed in his pajamas and slippers rather give it away?

Ianto had all of two seconds warning, hearing the furious thudding of heavy boots rushing down the stairs, before being bowled out of the doorway by Jack. He'd no doubt seen the TARDIS parked in their front garden when he got dressed.

'Doctor!' Jack had him wrapped up in a hug before he could say anything. Ianto enjoyed the awkward face the Doctor pulled, bemused by Jack's enthusiasm. 'What is it?' Jack asked, eyes aglow with excitement. 'No, wait, don't spoil the surprise just yet. Tell us on the way.'

'Us?'

Before Ianto knew what was happening, Jack was yanking him by the hand across the yard and straight for the TARDIS.

'Jack, wait!' Ianto pleaded.

'No time for waiting, Ianto! This is gonna be awesome!'

Poor Ianto, dragged off on an adventure in pyjamas and sippers. Probably feels a bit like Arthur Dent. Hopefully the Doctor has a spare towel as well as more suitable attire.
