Notes: Ianto is determined to make the most of a rainy day. A double drabble.

The set of books thudded onto Jack's desk, diverting his attention from the mindless game of solitaire he'd been playing on his computer.

'I thought we agreed no work today?' he said, staring up at Ianto.

'It's not work exactly,' he replied, settling himself in the chair opposite, looking expectantly at Jack.

Jack frowned. 'Looks like work to me,' he said, gingerly opening the cover of the top book. As he cast a glance down the spines, he noticed that they were all books from the archives and all written in Galactic Standard. 'Why are these here?'

'I've been saving them for a rainy day.'

'Which I assume you mean in the figurative sense?' It have been pouring down for three days now. Today was meant to be a day off.

'Of course. I figured since we had time, you could start teaching me the language. Tosh's translation programs are good, but it's a nuisance having to cart them to my office for a reference. Much quicker if I could just read them.'

Jack gave him a skeptical look. 'You know what the say, Ianto. Those that can't do, teach.'

'Good a time as any to prove them wrong, then.'

Ah, so this is where Ianto gains an invaluable third language!

He's a waste not, want not, king of guy. And it means spending quality time with Jack. I've no doubt there are stories Jack will tell him as a result that wouldn't form part of their normal pillow talk conversations.
