Summary: Ianto has warned Jack to dress warmly.

'I'm really sorry I can't go ice-skating with you,' Ianto apologised.

Jack gave him a sympathetic look. 'It's not your fault. Those Hugits are meant to be hibernating this time of year. No one expects them to come down from the mountains and start causing trouble.'

'At least they didn't ask me to fly to Santiago to coordinate. Rex is already on a plane down there.'

Jack smirked. 'He'll be thrilled at your choice of Christmas present.'

Ianto rubbed a hand over his face. 'Okay, well I'd better get moving as well. We agreed to conference call an update on the situation at ten.'

Jack gave him a quick kiss. 'Let me know if there's anything I can do.'

'Just go and have fun with the kids,' Ianto insisted. He spied one lonely beanie on the kitchen counter, grabbed it and thrust it at Jack. 'And make sure everyone is wrapped up properly. I don't want anyone catching cold this close to Christmas. I know what you're like.'

Jack rolled his eyes. 'Yes, Mum.'

'Okay, gotta go,' Ianto said, grabbing his keys. 'Have fun.'

Jack sighed as peace descended for all of five seconds, before three excitable children had him surrounded, demanding to know when they were going. 'As soon as you've got coats, gloves, scarves, mittens and hats,' he replied, adding the bobble-topped beanie to the appropriate child, before looking around the room for the other two.

When everyone was suitably rugged up, wrapped head to toe in every last piece of winter clothing, Jack piled them into the car, heading into town where the public skating rink had been set up. Due to recent snowfalls, there weren't nearly as many people out, the roads only partly cleared of snow and the general consensus being that it was too cold. Not Jack though, and definitely not the kids in the back of the car that had been nagging for days to go skating. Since it didn't look like the weather would improve, it was now or never.

In the end, they had a great time. They had the rink practically to themselves and the light snowfall somehow made it seem that much more magical. And, on account of there being so much snow, there was no way they could leave before having built a snowman and had a proper snow fight.

They were all well and truly worn out by the time they got home. Jack was so tired he didn't even wake when Ianto crawled into bed at some ungodly hour, the Hugit crisis resolved and only one hissy fit from Rex. It was only come morning that Ianto managed to wake him, shaking his shoulder roughly.

'What?' Jack mumbled, feeling tired and heavy.

'You feel like a radiator,' Ianto replied, checking his temperature again. 'I thought I told you to make sure everyone was dressed warmly.'

'They were,' Jack said, tiredly batting Ianto away.

'And you?'

'I had my coat.'

Ianto sighed. 'And I rest my case.'

Ianto meant you should wrap up too, Jack. You're supposed to set a good example! Now you're going to be no use to anyone and Ianto will have even more to do taking care of the kids as well a the Hub.
