'Come on, Jack,' Gwen pleaded.

'No.'

'Just a trial period.'

'No.'

'Please, Jack. It's Andy were talking about. You've known him for years. He's really keen for us to give him a chance.'

Jack gave her a knowing look. 'It's not his enthusiasm that concerns me. 'If he needed dry wit, he had Ianto. If he needed an in with the police, he had Gwen. A slightly bumbling bean pole  he could do without.

Gwen leaned across the desk. 'You're always saying we're short on good people. One day it's going to get us killed.'

'Fine. Trial period. Two weeks.'
