Title: Missing in action
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Gwen, PC Yvonne
Rating: PG
Challenge: 534 - Compulsion at tw100
Notes: Gwen has made some unusual requests, but this one takes the cake. A double drabble.
Yvonne heaved a sigh at the screen in front of her. Why did Gwen always do this to her? Because you always say yes, she answered herself.
The tiniest whiff of a lead and Gwen was all over it, obsessing until it proved fruitful or futile. Yvonne supposed that would make her a good copper one day, if she could learn to just rein in her compulsions a tad. It was one thing for the DCI to make demands, but another thing entirely for a WPC.
She scrolled again through the listings. Jack Harkness, 52, Surrey, bricklayer. Jonathan Harkness, 19, Cheshire, student. Four more listed as unemployed. No captains, not even one with a boating licence, let alone some military designation.
Just one record that matched, an old American World War Two soldier. But that was ridiculous. He'd gone MIA 1941, and by her calculations, assuming he was even still alive, he'd be over a hundred years old.
What the hell could Gwen want with an old bugger like that? She certainly wasn't going to make a request across the Atlantic for them to have a look at their records. This time Gwen was definitely barking up the wrong tree.
