Summary: Ianto is left feeling unsettled by the day's events. A double drabble.
Jack was holding the blade in hand hands, examining it in the lamplight when Ianto quietly knocked on the door and entered. Ianto cringed at the sight of it. It had been a part of Beth just a few hours ago.
'I presume you'll be wanting that stored in the archives,' Ianto said, though having no clue exactly where he'd file it.
Jack set it down on the desk and looked up at him. 'You did good today.'
'All happened so fast I didn't really think about it,' Ianto replied.
In truth it disturbed him that he hadn't hesitated to shoot to save Gwen's life. He'd felt nothing as he'd drawn his gun and shot, instincts and training driving his actions. If they'd all been a little less trigger happy, Beth might still be alive. A year ago it'd been him standing in Gwen's place whilst the team shot Lisa. It seemed strange to compare the two, yet the more he thought about it, the more, similarities he found.
'You knew it was the right thing to do,' Jack replied. 'That's all that matters.'
Anger bubbled up inside him. 'Was it?' The distinction between right and wrong felt very blurred.
