Summary: Detective Swanson is naturally suspicious of anything Torchwood brings her. A double drabble.

Detective Swanson saw Jack standing in her doorway with a large box in his arms. She let out a tired groan. 'No. Whatever it is, I don't want it. I've got enough headaches on my plate without you piling more misery on top.'

Jack gave her a smile. 'Haven't you ever heard the expression "never look a gift horse in the mouth"?'

'When it comes to dealing with you, a horse would be a blessed relief. What is it, then? Severed head? Portkey to the underworld?'

'You know you really ought to be less of a cynic, Detective.'

'Makes me good at my job,' she replied.

'No arguments from me,' Jack said, setting the box down on her desk.

She fixed him with a look, adjudging that opening the box was her responsibility. She gingerly lifted the lid, prepared for anything. 'A cake?' she asked, seeing the object inside.

'Double chocolate mud cake. Baked it myself,' Jack said, beaming with pride.

'You bake?'

'There's lots you don't know about me.'

'Clearly. What's it for?'

'Just a little thank you for helping us out last week. Job offer is still open, by the way.'

Kathy cringed. 'Think I'll stick to cake.'
