Summary: Jack is downplaying his most recent injuries.

'So, what's the latest on that Sarconian translator module, Tosh?' Jack asked, sneaking up behind her and making her jump slightly from his unexpected appearance. 'Think we can get it working again?'

She recovered quickly and did a double take at Jack hovering behind her. 'It's fine. I can get it working again with a bit of luck, but...' she paused, not wanting to sound rude. 'Aren't you meant to be taking it easy? I mean, that's what Owen said, isn't it?'

Their earlier trip out to capture a rogue alien that had dropped through the rift had gotten very physical once it was cornered with only one way out of the alleyway, and Jack had borne the brunt of it. With a single swipe of its huge paw, it had thrown him right into the brick wall like he was nothing but a rag doll. It took all four of them with tranquilizer darts to finally subdue it.

'I'm totally fine, Tosh. Don't you worry about me. A few ibuprofen and I am good to go.'

'Ianto said he cleared your calendar and that you weren't to be disturbed whilst you rested up.'

'And what Ianto doesn't know won't hurt him.'

'Ahem,' came the loud throat clearing.

Jack twirled at the sound and put on his best smile. 'Ianto! I hear you cleared my calendar. Thoughtful of you. I'm ready when you are.'

Ianto's expression was one of displeasure. 'You are meant to be lying down and recuperating. Doctor's orders.'

'It's fine.'

'It's a skull fracture, Jack. That's serious.'

Jack shrugged. 'So, I whacked my head against a wall. It's not like I died or anything.'

'Oh, sorry. I forgot that you dying was our new agreed upon threshold for my giving a damn.' Ianto put his hands on his hips and glared at his lover.

'Relax. It's probably already healed itself. Little perk of being an amazingly good looking, undying immortal.' As he said it, his nose began dribble a faint red. Jack wiped it away with his hand before Ianto sighed and offered him his handkerchief.

'Owen!' Ianto yelled out.

'What?'

'Jack's got a nosebleed. And I'm sure it's nothing at all to do with being concussed and having a great big crack in his skull where his brain cells are escaping.'

Owen ascended the steps from the medical bay, coming over to inspect.

'It's fine, see?' Jack said. 'Hardly any blood at all.' He held out the handkerchief to show them the damp, slightly pink colour.

'That's because it's intercranial fluid, you idiot.'

'Oh,' he replied, turning the handkerchief back towards himself to get a better look. It began to get fuzzy the longer he stared at it. 'Ianto?'

'Yes?'

'Make sure you catch me so I don't whack my head again,' he said, before his eyes rolled backwards and his knees buckled underneath him.

Ianto was quick to arrest his descent, laying Jack carefully on the floor. 'Why do I always pick the stubborn ones?'

Lol, I could hear Ianto's long-suffering sigh from two blocks away :)

Jack often overestimates his body's ability to heal itself quickly and without event. I suspect this is why Ianto owns as many sets of handcuffs as he does.

Ow, poor Jack! He really should learn to follow doctor's orders.
