Notes: Ianto has taken the long road to find his place. A double drabble.

Ianto had occasionally gone out on missions with the team when Jack had been around, but for the most part he got left behind, and he was okay with that. Sometimes he liked to get out and about, feeling like he was contributing in some small way, but each time he took on that responsibility it reminded him of all the reasons why staying put at the hub was a good idea. A little less death defying, heart-stopping action was good for his blood pressure. And it saved him a fortune on dry cleaning.

But now Jack was gone, and God only knew when he was coming back, if at all. That left them a man down, or two if you counted up all the years of Jack's experience and ability.

Being a fully active Torchwood operative took him outside of his comfort zone. He needed to be less passive aggressive and just say what he thought, be prepared to come up with ideas rather than just go along with them, or to throw himself headlong into danger when there was no one else left to do it. It was terrifying, but he finally felt like part of the team.
