Summary: There are occasionally perks to being off work injured.

'Easy,' Jack said, wrapping a careful arm around his lover as they walked towards the front door of Ianto's terrace house.

'I'm fine. Stop fussing,' Ianto replied, though he leaned a little into the touch anyway. Walking had never seemed like a complicated task until he'd had to go whole days without hardly taking a step. Right now he was just glad to be out of that awful hospital.

'Here we are,' Jack said, throwing open the door. 'Home, sweet home.'

Ianto sighed gratefully. 'At last. Remind me never to get sick again.'

Jack gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze which said he was equally happy to have him home and expressed the sentiment better than words ever could. 'D'you want rest up on the sofa or in bed?'

'I think I've done enough resting.'

'Doctor's orders, Ianto. At least a week until I let you come back to work.'

He groaned, knowing Jack was right. 'Sofa, then, but can I please use the bathroom first? I haven't had more than a damp flannel the entire time they kept me in and I feel grimy all over.'

'Absolutely. Do you want a shower or a bath?'

He considered his options. A shower would be quick, and the feeling of hot water running over his head would be nice, but then again, when was the last time he'd had the luxury of time for a good long soak in the bath? 'Bath, please. Though I may need a little assistance getting in and out. I'm not quite as bendy in the middle as I usually am.'

Jack rested a hand on his lower back. 'You're sure? It's not going to affect your wound?'

'It was keyhole surgery, Jack. They didn't cleave me open. I've got a whole pack of these waterproof bandages they gave me.'

'So, no sexy scar?'

'Afraid not. Hardly a dot. The surgeon said it all went very smoothly.'

'That's because there's nothing on you. No love handles to get in the way. The surgeon had an easy job of it.'

Ianto repressed a smirk. 'I'll take that as a compliment. Not that there's anything sexy about having your appendix out.' Given the amount of agonising pain he'd been in, he was glad it was now impossible for a repeat performance. Being mauled by a weevil was less painful. At least you got an adrenaline hit to mask the worst of it. He didn't remember the trip to hospital, though Jack mentioned he was pretty out of it, or as close to as made no matter.

'Just another spot for me to lavish attention on,' Jack replied, giving him a naughty grin.

'Maybe once it's not so tender,' Ianto qualified.

'You have my word,' Jack replied. 'Now, let's get you upstairs and settled in. I have a whole selection of oils and bubble bath mixture you can choose from.'

'Consider me spoiled,' Ianto quipped, though anything that wasn't the smell of antiseptic and general misery would be delightful.

Poor Ianto, but it could have been worse. I had my gallbladder out that way, it's really a breeze compared to regular surgery (but of course it is painful the first few days).

Ow, poor Ianto. He'll feel much better now he's home though. Keyhole surgery is always better than being carved open.
