Summary: Tyrion reflects on the cost of doing the right thing. A double drabble.

Tyrion stared at the door with a heavy feeling of resignation. It seemed unfair to have to come and be the one to deliver such news.

He pitied Jon. No one doubted that he was guilty of regicide. On this occasion there could be no doubting he'd been the one who had killed he queen. The only concession Tyrion had managed to bargain for was to have Jon's life spared. He thought Grey Worm might have put his spear through him right then and there for asking it. The Unsullied wanted justice for their queen and they would see it done.

He thought back to his own trial, as much of a farce as it had been. He'd been charged as equally guilty in the matter of Joffrey's death, but could not proudly admit he'd done the deed. He'd wanted to shake the hand of the man who had managed it, wishing only that he'd had that same strength of conviction as Jon to do the one thing that might save them all. This world had already seen far too many mad kings and queens.

In the end though, it was always power rather than justice, that decided their fates.
