Summary: Jack has reached the end of his tether on the topic of people going missing. A double drabble.

Jack's patience hangs by a thread. There's only so much of this conversation he can stomach - as if he hasn't already had it a hundred times over. He feels his hands go tense as he keeps them under the table. Will Ianto say anything? Would he dare? It's an easy enough secret to keep when it's just the two of them, but now Gwen has gotten Tosh involved and they know.

The truth is that the rift takes things. Just as it dumps things in their city, it removes them as well. Easy to overlook until it starts taking people. Easy to overlook those tiny little fluctuations in the rift readings. Easy to overlook until it decides to return those people back home, broken and damaged by their experiences.

It's not his fault that the rift takes people, but the way Gwen keeps talking it feels like she's prying into his dirty little secret. She's never going to let this go and she's going to uncover the horror of what he's managed to hide for years. They can't know.

He bolts up from his chair and slams his hands on the table. 'Close this down!' he commands, before storming out.

Poor Jack, this situation is really a hard topic for him. Nice character study.

He feels the burden very keenly but just doesn't want to have the others weighed down by it as well.

Poor Jack. I guess he thinks the fewer people who know the better, but there's no easy answer.
