Challenge 574 - Brave or stupid

Notes: Jack is spared his blushes at a weevil capture gone awry. A double drabble.

It takes Jack a moment to realise that the weevil who's been about to rip his throat open has suddenly let go of him. Something else from behind it has joined the fray and everything is moving too quickly for Jack to tell if this new entrant is an ally.

The young man Jack finally sees has attacked the weevil with a stick. Jack would laugh at the absurdity of this if there was time and if it weren't also ridiculously dangerous and stupid. He has the upper hand for only a few moments before the weevil knocks the weapon from his hand and goes in for the kill.

Jack pounces, setting aside his own self-preservation instincts. Unlike his good samaritan, the weevil can't kill him permanently. It's on the offensive now and won't stop until they're dead.

Jack however has the element of surprise, plus the element of weevil spray and enough sedative to take down a cow. It's still not an easy battle but he wins it in the end.

Only now is there time to thank his assistant. He should scold him for his stupidity but he's far too attractive and the words die on Jack's tongue.

Smitten at first sight, who can blame Jack? Although hitting an angry Weevil with a stick is definitely not a good idea.
