Title: Confronting death
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Jack, Esther
Rating: M (language)
Challenge: 575 - Hold at tw100
Notes: Jack is convinced the end has finally come for him. A double drabble.
'Don't you fucking die on me, Jack,' Esther warned him as she revved the car engine, pushing it as fast as it would go. 'You just hold on, okay?'
Jack wanted to laugh but he was in too much agony, curled up on the backseat and bleeding out. He'd never heard Esther swear before. Things must be pretty bad, he decided, feeling his own lucidity waning. Finally gonna die, Jack. All those years and you're gonna die in the backseat of a car without so much as a naked man there to keep you company.
It was a disappointing and unspectacular end.
Coming to see you, Angelo, Jack thought. You held out all those years with your fake marriage and your morphic fields, trying to cheat death, just waiting for me to turn up in your life again and then you goddamn die on me. What's that all about? Playing hard to get?
Jack winced and cried out as another stab of red hot pain lanced through his gut. They'd be laughing at him right now, Angelo and Ianto, debating who would get to make the first snippy comment about Jack being a wuss.
'I'm coming for you...' Jack mumbled.
