Notes: Torchwood has to deal with alll mannner of things. A double drabble.

Jack set his hands on his hips as he stood at the edge of the crater and cast his gaze down into it. It was only about twelve feet across but it was at least twenty feet deep. 'Isn't the universe just full of weird and wonderful things?'

'More weird than wonderful,' Owen argued, hauling a heavy pack full of ropes and other equipment.

'Definitely weird,' Suzie agreed, leaning out tentatively over the edge. 'Is that its head or its tail?' she asked, scowling at the thing writhing in the bottom of the pit where the meteor had broken up, releasing its passenger.

'Don't know yet,' Jack replied, 'but that's half the fun. A whole new alien species come to visit our world.'

'Not sure it got much say in the destination,' Owen muttered, dropping his pack. 'When was the last time you were able to control the flight path of a meteor?'

Jack garbled something that wasn't English, but which had all the intonation of a question worded in some alien language.

Suzie quirked an eye at their captain. 'What did you just say?'

'I said we'd get it out in a jiffy.'

'And it understood you?'

Jack shrugged.

At least Jack tried to communicate with it. I guess they'll know if it worked when they start trying to get the visitor out of the hole.
