Summary: Jorah understands that Viserys is walking a fine line.

Even at a considerable distance, Ser Jorah could hear the nasaly sound of his liege's voice, proclaiming his various complaints to anyone who would listen. It was only fortunate, Jorah suspected, that most of the Dothraki around them understood very little of the Common Tongue, or none at all. If they had understood the words, there was a very fine chance that Viserys would have been unhorsed and with an arakh at his neck before he could utter another sound.

Jorah considered slowing his horse and allowing the prince the catch up to him so that he might have a word with him. Jorah had spent many moons in the company of the Horse Lords and knew much of their language and customs. He had also earned the respect of many of them, Kahl Drogo's clan more than most. It was to him that they listened, though they rarely sought guidance from anyone.

Dothraki had been living here longer than any other people and knew all the ways of these lands east of the Narrow Sea. They were the masters of these lands, but when it came to things that had come from the west, they were still children in many ways. Jorah was here to begin bridging that gap, since their new alliance with the prince would eventually lead them westward. Maybe not for many years yet, but one day Khal Drogo would make good his promise in exchange for his new Westerosi bride.

It was for Danaerys' sake that Jorah worried over the prince's complaints. It was insanity to challenge the ways of the Dothraki, but far worse to openly insult them, as Viserys was now doing. His bargain would all be for nought if the prince did not show Khal Drogo the proper deference and respect. The prince however was a stubborn mule, more arrogant and unhinged perhaps than even his father before him. There was potential for greatness, but only if he grew a small amount of humility and respect.

He had treated his sister as nothing more than currency to get what he wanted, and did not seem to understand yet that it was Danaerys that Drogo prized more than any gold or lands. Viserys may have threatened his sister in the past, used physical force to make her bend to his will, even perhaps slept with her, as Targaryens were so oft prone to do, but none of that would be allowed now that she was Khaleesi. Khal Drogo had never been defeated in battle, and for good reason. He was no fool and would cut down any enemy before they even had a chance to consider drawing a weapon against him. The prince would do well to learn that lesson quickly, before he found himself at the end of Khal Drogo's blade. All their plans to take back the Iron Throne in the name of the rightful King, and to restore some glory to the Mormont name, rested on Viserys swallowing his pride.
