Summary: Training with Jack isn't going quite how Ianto expected it to.
Ianto wasn't happy about being taken away from his afternoon plans. He had a schedule of things to do as long as his arm, or probably longer.
Having Jack remind him he was overdue for some self defense training was the last thing he needed. He knew perfectly well how to defend himself, and even though he was perhaps a tad out of shape, it certainly wasn't enough to consider himself unfit. Torchwood never let up in its physical demands -he just wasn't doing his regular morning run lately. He might have even been offended by Jack's insinuation that he wasn't in peak condition were it not for the fact that he knew when Jack asked to do training, it was almost always just an excuse to snaffle Ianto away for a little private time. And everybody knew it.
He could have put his foot down, but perhaps if they were quick he'd be able to get back to his other work, and keep Jack happy at the same time.
He turned up on time, dressed in his training gear. Part of him wondered why he bothered. Jack would no doubt divest him of them soon enough.
'Alright, I'm here, Jack. Let's get this over wi-' He didn't get to finish making his request, before Jack had him flat on his back on the mat. He hit it so hard that it knocked the breath out of him and he had that brief moment of panic where he couldn't breathe, no matter how much he tried to suck the air in. When it finally passed and he was able to breathe again, his mind turned to the ache in the rest of his body from being thrown down on the thin mat. He didn't get time to think it over as Jack came for him again, about to throw a kick towards his head which he blocked at the very last second with his forearm, before rolling over and getting to his knees. Jack didn't let up though. He lead a series of moves that made Ianto duck, dive and block Jack's relentless fists and kicks.
'Jack, what the hell?' he puffed. Clearly whatever kinky plans Ianto had assumed Jack had in mind were not as likely as he'd presumed.
Jack tried another move, but this time Ianto expertly blocked it and added his own. When he caught the look on Jack's face he knew he meant business. 'Why the hell did you jump me?' he demanded.
'You think your oppenent is going to wait for you to be ready?' Jack replied in between left and right hooks, the second which caught Ianto painfully in the collarbone.
Damn it, Ianto thought. Someone else had clearly done something that had earned Jack's ire about being able to defend themselves in a tight situation. Jack always redoubled his efforts on training in the aftermath.
Great, Ianto thought. Just when I was thinking a kinky afternoon was the worst thing that could happen.
