Summary: If Jack can't sing on Christmas day, then what's the point?
Jack was all abuzz as he and Ianto were busily setting the table. Having everyone over for Christmas at theirs was a treat and he was looking forward to playing host. He'd been humming all morning, unable to shake the excess of happiness and now his humming had morphed into full on singing. His repertoire of Christmas songs had gotten a serious workout as he moved from room to room, hanging more lights, glazing hams and setting even more presents under the tree for their guests.
'On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me... five golden rings!'
'It's gold rings, not golden rings!' Ianto yelled at him.
Jack threw his hands up at the furious look Ianto gave him. 'Okay, no need to get so uptight about it. It's just a Christmas Carol. Sheesh! Don't go all Christmas Grinch on me, Ianto.'
'I'm not,' he retorted, tugging the bonbons out of the box a little too enthusiastically before setting them on the table next to the bread and butter plates. 'I'm just saying that if you're going to sing carols which, by the way, I have no objection to, can you at least get the words right?'
'That sounds very much like just being pedantic,' Jack replied.
'Well, I'm entitled to be pedantic on Christmas, aren't I?'
Jack stuck his tongue out the moment Ianto had his back turned. It was Christmas, so he was going to sing carols however he liked.
'On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me... five golden rings! Four whining Owen's, three brilliant Tosh's, two chatty Gwen's, and a Ianto to bring me coffee!' He grinnned stupidly at Ianto, waiting for the requisite rolling of eyes and weary sigh. Ianto didn't disappoint.
'You should be so lucky.'
