Notes: The countryside is proving eerily quiet. A double drabble.

'Not to put a dampener on things,' Tosh began saying as they carefully picked their way over the rocky hillside.

'Oh, because it's not already dampened by the fact that we're on foot, our SUV has been stolen and there's a whole bunch of people in the area gone missing?' Ianto replied, beginning to feel the weight of the pack on his shoulders which now contained the grand sum of their possessions.

Tosh forced a smile at Ianto's unwavering sense of ironic humor. 'Well, sure, if you want to look at the glass being half empty,' she said, trying to make light of it.

'Alright, then. It's half full,' Ianto insisted. 'Who needs a car in countryside like this, anyway? Or tents. Or food.'

Tosh rolled her eyes behind him. He had a very good point.

'Anyway, you were saying, Tosh?'

'Huh?' She nearly stumbled into the back of him as he came to a halt.

'You didn't want to put a dampener on things, but...'

'Oh. Well, it's just, lots of nature everywhere, but no birds.'

'Maybe they've gone missing, too.'

They both jumped at the sudden cawing from a lone crow.

'There you are,' Ianto pointed out. 'Birds.'

And that wasn't at all ominous, lol! I love crows, but Countrycide was just so creepy.

The whole place is so creepy that even the normal animals feel spooky.
