Summary: Jack has issue with Ianto's wardrobe choices.

'So, who is this old friend of yours again?' Ianto asked, towelling the remaining dampness from his skin from the delectably hot shower he'd just stepped out of.

'A very old friend, 'Jack confirmed. 'Someone from my early Time Agency days. He did me a huge favour once and we remained close after that. We lost touch years ago, though. I'm amazed he found me to deliver the invitation.' Perhaps it was something to do with the TARDIS, he thought. She had a way of making the impossible, possible.

Ianto paused and thought about this for a moment. 'Hang on. If you knew him back when you were a Time Agent, wouldn't that make them really old?'

'He'd be pushing three hundred these days. I told you it was an old friend.'

Ianto nearly dropped the towel he'd been carefully wrapping around his waist. 'And he's still alive?'

'Tyrenese live a lot longer than humans,' Jack replied. 'Three hundred is nothing.'

'And he's waited until now to get married?' Ianto asked, pawing through their extensive wardrobe, looking for the clothes he wanted.

'When you're going to live for eight or nine hundred years, it's worth waiting for the right person to come along.' He gave Ianto a tender look of happiness. 'I can vouch for that.'

Ianto smiled back, that warm fuzzy feeling settling in the pit of his stomach at Jack's words, finally laying his hands on what he wanted and pulling it out before laying it on the bed.

Jack gave a surreptitious glance across and frowned. 'No, that just won't do,' he said.

Ianto frowned at him. What was wrong with his choice of clothes? His pink shirt and blue tie ensemble was Jack's favourite, and perfect for a wedding, coordinating perfectly with the deep blue Jack was wearing. 'What's wrong?' he asked.

Jack padded past him, still dressed only in his shirt, underwear and socks, stepping into the TARDIS's vast wardrobe she'd created for them. Neither of them knew exactly how big it was since they'd never found the back of it, but it was suffice to say that they would never run short of clothing options, and the TARDIS had excellent taste, accommodating their every need. Everything she'd created for them to live aboard was first class, spacious and tailored to their needs. It was a slightly jealous Doctor that always complained she treated her guests better than her owner.

As Jack wandered through the endless racks of Ianto's clothes, he breathed in deeply. Everything in here, though freshly washed and pressed, had that evocative hint of cologne that was so distinctly Ianto. He could have stayed in here forever, just breathing in that scent, but he had a job to do, and they couldn't be late to the wedding. It was hard enough to get the Doctor to turn up anywhere on time. He certainly didn't want to delay them on account of getting distracted by the multitude of heavenly scented clothes. He finally selected a suit and shirt combination and came back out, holding them up. 'This is much better,' he said.

Ianto pulled a face at Jack's choice. He couldn't deny that every single piece of clothing in there was finely cut and shaped, made from the best fabrics and semi-impervious to stains and damage - just another little gift from the TARDIS, given their propensity for trouble - but it wasn't something he would have picked.

'It's very monotone,' he said, looking at the deep charcoal suit and matching vest. The shirt was also grey, though a much lighter shade, and the tie and pocket square were a bright silver.

'Grey is a very auspicious colour for Tyrenese weddings,' Jack replied. 'It represents love and fidelity. There'll be a lot of grey there. They're a very superstitious species.'

'It's not really my colour. Auspicious or not.' Once upon a time, he wouldn't have deviated beyond the spectrum that went from black through to white, but these days he much preferred a splash of colour. Grey was just so boring.

'Every colour is your colour,' Jack, replied, teasing him with flattery. 'As much as I love that pink shirt, it would be poor form to show up to a wedding wearing that.'

'Why? If grey is fidelity, what does pink mean?'

'Infidelity. Well, not directly, otherwise no one would ever wear it, but it's kind of like people consider you to be a bit false and untrustworthy if you wear pink.'

'Oh. Grey's lovely, then,' he said. 'Even if it is a little bland.' He most definitely didn't want to offend anyone, and he'd be mortified if people thought him untrustworthy.

'Wait there a moment,' Jack said, disappearing back into the wardrobe.

'Like I have a choice,' Ianto said, talking to himself.

'Here,' Jack said, returning with a lavender tie to replace the place silvery one he'd previously chosen.

Ianto quirked an eyebrow at him. 'I'm not advertising my sexual preferences or something wearing this?' he asked.

Jack laughed at him. 'I should have thought of that earlier, but wearing green at a wedding is just ostentatious and showing off.'

Ianto rolled his eyes. 'Of course it is.'

'Nope, lavender is just the right thing to add a little colour. It's a sign of longevity and good fortune.'

'Well, in that case it's perfect,' he said, beaming at his lover.

'Did I mention it brings out the blue in your eyes?'

Ianto gave him a playful shove. 'Now I know you're just buttering me up for later.'

'I am,' he confessed. 'There's lots of dancing at Tyrenese weddings. I hope you're planning on wearing comfy shoes, because once I get you out on that dance floor, there's no going back.'

Ianto sighed. 'I might be convinced to stay for a dance or two.'

'Or more,' Jack replied, grabbing him and swinging him around, forcing him to grip his towel tightly. 'Tyrenese weddings go for a month.'

That is going to be quite a wedding! I'm sure they'll have a fine time, dressed in their colour-coded finery!

I just hope. They don't have to wear the same outfit for the whole month! Knowing Jack and the kinds of friends he keeps it's possible they won't need clothes after the formalities are out of the way!

Sounds like it's going to be a fun party! I'd love to see Ianto dressed in Jack's choices.

He'll look perfect thanks to Jack's help. Jack has learned a lot about colour coordination from Ianto over the years. I'm sure they'll have a blast.
