Title: Home sweet home
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Jack, Rhys
Rating: PG
Challenge: 589 - Graze at tw100
Notes: Rhys is enlisted to assist in settling a new alien into its earthly paradise. A triple drabble.
'We're good!' Jack yelled out from behind the lorry, gesticulating so that Rhys could see him clearly in the side mirrors. Rhys pressed the button that released the back doors, lowering the loading flap down to the ground, before hopping out of the cabin and going around to join Jack.
'Alright?' Rhys asked.
'Perfect,' Jack said, already trying to coax the large alien out of the back. 'That's it. Out you come. Just look at all this delicious grass.'
Rhys still couldn't believe how huge the creature was, all long snout and six chunky legs, slowing waddling out and making the ramp creak under its weight. 'Blimey,' he uttered as it stood before them, dwarfing them with its bulk. It began to look around the huge valley of green and then looked back at Jack, its big brown eyes asking a silent question.
'This is your home now,' Jack replied. 'You're safe. No one can hurt you here. Wander as far as you like. All of this belongs to us.'
The creature waddled a few more steps, before wrapping its long snout around a tuft of long green grass, pulling it out of the ground and moving it towards the mouth that was clearly hidden underneath somewhere. It chewed and gurgled appreciatively, or at least that's what Rhys assumed it was doing, as it went to pull up even more grass.
'Lucky this place is big,' Rhys said to Jack. 'Way that thing eats, you're going to go through a hell of a lot of grass.'
Jack smiled back at him. 'It can graze all it wants and I don't ever think we'll run out.' Rhys could tell from the look on his face that he loved it up here. And fair enough if you owned half the Welsh valleys.
