Title: Right language
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Owen, Suzie
Rating: PG
Challenge: 593 - Champion at tw100
Notes: Suzie's request to comply requires translation. A double drabble.
'Thanks, Champ,' Owen called out, tipping his invisible hat to the thick set rugby player, and tucking the device under his arm as he wandered it back to the SUV.
Suzie leaned a bored elbow on the open window. 'Champ? More like chump. What was his problem, anyway?'
'Didn't have one,' Owen said, loading the object in the back seat.
'Clearly he did, or he would have just handed it over when I asked.' In general she didn't have a problem dealing with blokes twice her size. The bigger they were the harder they fell, and the fewer syllables were required to converse with them, as far as Suzie was concerned.
Owen grinned arrogantly at Suzie. 'It just goes to show that you're not perfect at everything. Sometimes you have to level with people in a language they understand.'
'What language would that be? Moron? I kept all my words under five letters.'
'Probably what pissed him off,' Owen replied. 'Turns out he's a stockbroker, just out on a Sunday morning walk when he found it. He thought you sounded dodgy and was off to go hand it into police. He didn't realise you were Torchwood.'
Suzie huffed. Stupid Welsh.
