Summary: Jack is enjoying having Ianto explore his body until he shares what's going in inside his head.
Jack tucked his arm under his head to prop it up. He wanted to be able to watch Ianto as he began working his way down Jack's torso, touching each and every inch of it with his hands and with his lips. There was something so mesmerising at seeing another person worship his body like that. And the sensation wasn't half bad either. It was a struggle not to let his eyes drift close and just savor the feeling of so many tender touches.
As he watched Ianto, his mind began to wander in different directions until the sound he made caught Ianto by surprise. His lips temporarily left Jack's abdomen as he looked up to meet his gaze.
'Are you giggling?'
Jack was unable to suppress a grin. 'I was just watching you doing that and thinking it was like watching one of those documentaries, and then I got David Attenborough's voice in my head and I couldn't help it. "Here we have the male of the species carefully exploring his mate. This is an important mating ritual so that he will later be able to easily identify his mate from the rest of the herd."
Ianto stiffened at the comments, and not in the way Jack had hoped. If he thought Ianto might crack a smile, he was sorely disappointed.
'No? Not even a little bit funny? Come on. I get bored at the hub on night shift. I watch a lot of documentaries. You wouldn't believe some of the mating rituals, although I could probably talk you through a few of them. Might be fun.'
Ianto slid off Jack and rolled over onto his side, his back turned. 'Thanks for making me feel completely stupid.'
'Hey.' Jack grabbed his shoulder and turned him back over to face Jack. 'That wasn't what I intended.' He kissed Ianto's shoulder. 'I'm sorry. Sometimes I forget that other people are more sensitive than me.'
'Now I'm sensitive?'
Jack sighed. Nothing that was coming out of his mouth tonight seemed like the right thing to say. 'I've been told I'm too blasé before, you know. That I don't empathise with other people's emotions. This planet isn't used to the same freedoms. I forget sometimes it's not easy to think of this as being something we can joke about.'
'I don't want David Attenborough narrating our relations.'
'Okay. I'll never do it again, I swear.' He paused, trying to make sure he had Ianto's full attention. 'I was enjoying what we were doing. I like that you don't want to just get on with the main event and then go to bed. This is different for me, too. I want to take the time to get to know you. All of you, right down to the last freckle. If I'm impatient it's because I don't think there's that much of me to explore. I'd much rather be finding out all about you.'
'There's plenty of you,' Ianto assured him. 'And we've got time.'

Date: 2020-03-13 11:51 pm (UTC)It's still early doors in their relationship so I think he's allowed to be a little apprehensive of just how serious Jack is about them. I'm sure he'll see the funny side in the morning.
