Summary: Ianto has made some important improvements to his office.

When Jack entered Ianto's office down in the archives he was taken aback by the changes that had been made. Where once there had been a very neat and spartan setup - bookshelves that lined one wall, full of reference materials and just to the side of it, one perfectly spotless desk, carrying only a computer and a leather blotter on its surface - now it was crammed with many other things.

A second wall of bookshelves had been erected and as Jack stepped closer to peer at the titles that graced its shelves, he noticed that not a one of them appeared in any way work related. There were collections on the histories of several countries, photobooks of landscapes and artwork, cookery books, travel guides and a vast collection of fiction novels. Jack had read many of them, but there were many more titles he'd yearned to read for years, even decades, but simply never gotten around to it.

The other major feature in Ianto's office was now a large and exceedingly comfortable sofa that appeared to very strategically face the wall, perpendicular to the new bookshelves, looking at a singular innocuous framed print splashed with watercolors in greens and blues. A small table sat at one end of the sofa with a lamp. At the other end, Jack lifted open a wicker hamper to reveal blankets and throws which complimented the cushions adorning the sofa itself.

Unable to resist, he sat down on the sofa, bouncing gently up and down to test it out, enjoying the slightly firm but bouncy softness of it. Without even giving it a proper road test, he'd already given it his seal of approval. He grabbed one of the cushions and hugged it to his chest, taking in the completely changed atmosphere. It wasn't like Ianto to clutter his workspace with unnecessary stuff, which set Jack down a path of more worrying conclusions.

'What are you doing down here?' came a question from behind Jack that startled him from his maze of thoughts. 'I thought you had a mountain of reports to review?

'Have I done something wrong?' Jack asked. Usually if Ianto was mad at him, he let Jack know about it, either by reading him the riot act or with that not so subtle cold shoulder.

'I don't know. Have you?' came the enigmatic response.

'Have you moved out without telling me?' Jack said, gesturing at the attempt to recreate their living room.

Ianto chuckled. 'God, I hope not.'

'So...'

'Oh, this? Just thought it might be nice to have somewhere to escape for when it all gets a bit much. I mean, not that there aren't a hundred places in the hub you can escape, but nowhere particularly comfortable. You're welcome to use it too, you know. It's not just for me.'

'Or both of us at the same time? I'm all for you engaging in self care, but I'm always happy to do what I can.'

Ianto smirked. 'I'll remember that.'

That sounds like a really comfy setup, much better than Jack's cramped cubbyhole and army surplus camp bed. =)
