Notes: Owen has found a new ally and friend. A double drabble.

Owen was rearranging his medical bay when he heard the sound of footsteps coming down the sprial stairs.

'Putting everything back just the way you like it?' Martha asked, raising a curious eyebrow at him.

He felt the muscles in his back tense. 'Just don't like people messing with my stuff, that's all.'

'Well, it'll stay just how you like it from here on in,' she promised him. 'I've already called UNIT and let them know I'll be back tomorrow morning.'

'Jack must be heartbroken,' Owen quipped. 'Must be nice having a doctor around who isn't a complete arsehole.'

Martha smiled at the self-deprecating remark. 'I think Jack just likes having someone around who he can still impress.'

Owne looked up. 'Really? That's doesn't sound like Jack at all.'

Martha's smile widened. 'Trust me. If this is a normal day, I'll take UNIT every time. It's good seeing you back down here.'

'And it's good not seeing you down here,' he replied good-naturedly. 'Might even miss having you around. For a UNIT lackey, you're pretty good value.'

She shrugged off the compliment. 'Want me to restitch that hand one last time before I go?'

'Why not? Saves me doing it.'

It's a shame Martha couldn't stay really, even if only to keep patching Owen up. Then again, she might not have survived Gray.
