Notes: Bridgette should know better by now than to ask Jack for his two pence. A double drabble.

Bridgette Spears set her pen down on the desk as gave a long suffering sigh as she watched Jack stream in through the oak panelled doors. 'Another year, another riveting report from Torchwood Cardiff,' she remarked.

'Bridgette! Happy new year to you, too. Did you have a nice Christmas?'

She tugger at her bifocals, briefly entertaining the hope that removing them might make the Captain disappear from her vision. 'As good as one can expect when one spends Christmas Day resolving, erm... matters.'

Jack's face broke out in a knowing grin. 'Oh, yeah. Heard about that. Killer mannequins and man-eating trees.'

Bridgette raised a curious eyebrow at him. 'You weren't invovled? I would have thought that sort of thing was right up your alley.'

He grinned. 'Me? Oh, heck no. I leave London matters to Torchwood One. Got enough on my plate. Turkey and stuffing that evening, as it happens.'

'And that doesn't bother you?'

'Personally, I prefer my plastic dolls to be less independent thinkers, if you get my drift.' He waggled an eyebrow at her.

Bridgette narrowed her own eyes at him. 'I only asked for your opinion as a courtesy, Captain. That doesn't mean I value it.'
