Summary: The night has a unique sound all of its own. A double drabble.
Ianto sighed a contented sound in the darkness as the drumming of rain on the rooftiles woke him from slumber. It was always raining in Cardiff but there was something different about the rain when it fell at night. It had a musical quality to it, chiming a different note when it hit the window panes, the leaves of the trees out in the yard, and the pitter patter drumming sound it made on the pavement. There was the occasional swishing sound as a car sped along the wet road and a trickling gurgle as the water gathered in the eaves and tumbled down the pipes into the sewers below.
Best of all, as he snuggled back deeper under the covers, letting the storm outside continue to lash the otherwise quiet neighbourhood, he heard another sound. It was subtle, almost imperceptible over the sound of the rain. The sound of Jack's slow breathing. There was something unique about it, like Ianto could have picked it apart from that of any other person. It sounded like Jack, had that same rhythmic constance that complimented his immortality. It was a perfect combination of music and rhythm that Ianto could fall asleep to.
