My family are trying to warp my head with the monotony of self isolation.

Just when I think I've grappled with the idea that it's May and I'm not losing my mind I start hearing the tune of Christmas carols (badly, I might add - like those singing candles that have been lit too many times).

After wandering around the house for five minutes trying to discover the source of the strange festive music I ended up in the kitchen staring at the bin. Lo and behold when I push open the lid it gets louder, confirming my utter bafflement. I believe the question I asked was "why is our bin singing Christmas carols?"

Apparently there was a broken novelty pen Mum found in the pantry which she threw out. Hours later it decided it wasn't as broken as she thought. We think it has finally given up the ghost but not without a fight.

Validation that I've not reached complete madness yet, but it's a close thing.

It totally threw me. I thought maybe it was our doorbell which has about 40 different tunes you can set it for, and its always on the fritz. I thought maybe we had another delivery. Mum has been buying random things - boxes of fancy tea, books, and god knows what else. The local Australia Post guy is getting a workout in our street. Ususally it's just the neighbours across the road that are always buying stuff getting boxes all the time.

I bet it did, but at least you tacked it down to its source!

My doorbell has about that many ring tones and I've got it set to random. once in a while I get a Christmas song but the one that makes me jump is the electronic voice because I live alone. it can be quite creepy!

Hope your mum is enjoying her shopping spree!
