Challenge 603 - Down to earth

Notes: Coat owes Jack a lesson in humility. A double drabble.

'Last one there shouts everybody a slice of cherry pie!' Jack announced as he swung the SUV to a breakneck halt along the kerb, causing a jolt that audibly winded some of his passengers. He was starving and this café did the best panini and pie in all of Cardiff.

Nobody was rushing out of the car despite Jack's threats. They all knew Ianto had the business credit card primed and ready to cover the cost but that didn't stop Jack. Life was there to be lived to the fullest. He flung the door open, preparing to make a break for it, but the next thing he knew he had his cheek pressed against the pavement.

'Nice one, Twinkle Toes,' Owen muttered, wandering past without so much as offering him a hand. 'Guess this makes you last,' he added as the four of them carried on, heading inside.

Jack looked down at where his coat had gotten tangled up in his legs. 'You did that on purpose,' he said, addressing the garment that was usually his most trusty ally.

The coat of course didn't respond, but he could almost sense its smugness as he finally pulled himself to his feet.
