Jack had been despondent since John's suicide.

Alone in the hub, he'd decided to drink himself into a stupor.

He didn't hear Ianto approach as he poured his third glass.

'Christmas Eve,' Ianto observed.

'Shouldn't you be visiting family, or last minute shopping, or whatever it is people do on Christmas Eve?'

'Shopping was done weeks ago. I'll see my family tomorrow night, after David and Mica have worn themselves out playing with their new toys.'

'Alone on Christmas Eve?'

'I've got you.'

'I'm not much company,' Jack sighed.

'After a few drinks I'm sure we'll both be just fine.'

Ianto's going to see how many drinks it takes to convince Jack his replacement car is going to be an Aston Martin :)

I'm not sure they'll get that far into the drinking before they get distracted by other activities! But yes, he deserves a nice new car with plenty of leg room. :)
