Summary: It's been a long night for the team.
'Alright,' Jack said, pulling up alongside the kerb. 'You two help Tosh inside and I'll wait here.'
Without argument, Owen and Ianto got out of the car, helping Tosh to clamber out and towards the entrance of her block of flats. She really shouldn't have come out with them, as far as Ianto was concerned. She'd been suffering from Axian flu for weeks and was only just starting to get some strength back. It was only because Jack though they might need some technical expertise that he even asked if she was up for it. Naturally eager to please, she'd said yes.
Ianto swiped the access panel on the front door whilst Owen wrapped an arm around Tosh's waist, leading her toward the lift and pressing the up bottom. She was dead on her feet. If they had to wait too long, she might drop off to sleep against Owen. He looked just as tired as she did, and it was all Ianto could do not to yawn. Perhaps he shouldn't blame Jack entirely for Tosh's exhaustion. It had been a long day and an even longer night, trying to track down the offending signal, locate the source of it and make sure it wasn't going to start sending everyone in a ten mile radius into a psychotic state. It might have been a whole lot easier if the signal had been consistent and hadn't kept dropping in and out of space, dumping itself somewhere new each time it reappeared. Bloody rift. Ianto hated days like this.
The lift let out a gentle ping, opening its doors.
'I'm shagged,' Owen muttered, leaning his weight against the wall.
Ianto covered his mouth as he yawned. 'Looking forward to bed, that's for sure,' he replied, weariness heavy on him.
He unlocked the door to Tosh's flat and Owen stepped inside, taking them straight to the bedroom.
'Thanks, Owen,' Tosh muttered sleepily as he sat her on the bed and pulled back the covers, before letting her crawl under them, pulling them back over.
'All part of the service,' Owen replied. He watched her as Ianto drew the blinds, blocking out the sunrise that would beam through the windows about an hour from now. The bed looked so soft and comfy and he was exhausted himself. Another sodding twenty minutes to his place from here, and then it was a climb up the seven flights of stairs because body corporate couldn't be bothered fixing the lift. He wasn't looking forward to it.
As Ianto turned to switch off the table lamp, he caught Owen climbing into the bed next to Tosh.
'What,' he yawned, 'are you doing?'
'Can't be bothered going home. I'm knackered. I'm gonna crash right here.'
He could have at least used the sofa, Ianto thought. Then again, that duvet looked so warm, and he was so tired himself. It would save a lot of trouble.
'Budge over,' he said, crawling in next to Owen.
'Don't even think about snuggling,' Owen warned him, gripping the pillow tight so Ianto couldn't steal it all.
'I don't think I have any energy left for snuggling,' he replied, head sinking into the pillow. It really was a soft as it looked.
'Good,' Owen mumbled, pulling the covers up to his ears. 'Night.'
'Barely,' Ianto muffled.
'Whatever.'
Jack tapped the steering wheel impatiently. What was taking them so long? He gave it another five minutes before getting out of that car to see what was keeping them. He took the stairs two at a time, still feeling full of energy despite everything. One of the benefits of immortality.
He slipped quietly into the flat, listening for teammates and hearing nothing. Padding down the hall he came to stand in the doorway, finding all three of them tucked up in Tosh's bed, fast asleep. He snorted out a chuckle and shook his head. It was just too adorable. Unable to resist, he snapped a few quick pictures on his phone, before stepping over to switch off the lamp.
'Night, night, team.'
