Summary: Jack knew it was too much to hope for just one uneventful day. A double drabble.

Jack ran a tired hand over his face as he cast his gaze around the hub. It all looked like everything was in place, but there was surely something he'd missed. There always was, he just didn't know what yet. That's what these people did - looked for holes, deficiencies, flaws.

A hand touched his elbow and caught him by surprise. Gwen was there beside him, a reassuring smile on her face. 'Stop worrying. These Torchwood risk assessors, they don't understand what we do.'

'Oh, but they do,' Jack replied. 'They'll look for any little thing to shut us down. They're us, scattered throughout time, come to check on whoever is in charge, to see if they're even worthy.'

Gwen rubbed his arm. 'Then you've got nothing to worry about. You've been here longer than anyone. You've got the running of this place down to a fine art. Nothing is going to go wrong today.'

'Jack!' Ianto's voice floated across the hub. 'Don't like to be the bearer of bad news but we've got a leak. Some idiot from council broke a pipe and the tourist office is now a foot underwater.'

Jack raised an eyebrow at Gwen. 'You were saying?'
