Notes: Jack is in a bad mood after a balls up. A double drabble.

Owen thumbed over his shoulder at the sight of the closed door to Jack's office. 'What's all that about?' he asked as he settled down at his desk, casting his curious look towards Ianto. 'You're not in there and I can't hear any yelling so what's the story?'

Ianto settled a fresh mug of coffee on Owen's desk and gave the office a disconcerted frown. 'Jack's ego is a little bit fragile this morning, which is to say he's sulking.'

'Why?'

'Because last night he had to apologise to Detective Inspector Swanson. He trampled one of her crime scenes, thinking it was alien involvement. Only it wasn't. Jack used one of those neutralising rays, thinking it was some kind of deadly spores that killed the victim.'

'It wasn't?'

'Nope. Just a marijuana deal gone bad. A check of his criminal record made that obvious, but Jack was in a hurry and didn't. I don't know what he was thinking. He didn't wake me, just took off on his own. And now the DNA evidence at the scene has been compromised and they won't be able to convict the guy.'

'Whoops.'

'Yeah. If you value your life, you won't mention it.'
