Notes: Jack has met unexpected resistance on what should have been a simple investigation. A double drabble.

Jack stormed out of the pub, kicking an empty beer can across the street as if it had offended him personally. He wanted to be so mad at Ianto for being here tonight. He was ruining Jack's investigation, and worse, he seemed to have the entire pub aligned with him, which was to say Jack was considered persona non grata around here.

He puffed out an angry breath. What was he supposed to expect, that Ianto would welcome him in with open arms and buy him a drink? Ianto was still so fragile after losing Lisa. Was it any wonder he'd taken to drinking away the hours between work? Even if he claimed he was working and not drinking, he still reeked of hops. Jack was going to have to tread lightly if he wanted to keep Ianto on his side. Getting angry at him wasn't going to help. He really did want Ianto on his side.

He caught a whiff of cigarette smoke and turned his head. There in the shadows was Ianto's new best friend barmaid. He hated her already. She was the one sowing the seeds of dissent. For Jack to salvage things, she had to go.
